His Love Endures Forever
Written by Chris Baker
Have you ever been driving along the road, peaceful, not a care in the world, when suddenly the car in front of you slams on the brakes? In response, you slam on your brakes and your car comes to a screeching sliding halt! This is a picture of how life has been for many around the world in response to the Corona Virus. Life has come to a screeching halt!
In America, families who were once busy, constantly on the go from one activity to the next, always working, always involved, going, going, going came to a SUDDEN stop! Fast forward several weeks and families are stressed! If you are still working, then it is most likely under stressful conditions. There are always new, or sometimes daily, protocols to follow in response to the ever-changing virus protocols. Families that are home are now becoming stir crazy. Parents are running out of games and activities to do. They may have a more active role in their children’s education, which is now becoming cumbersome. Point being, the Corona Virus may be all that some are focused on. How might one change their perspective? The most effective way that I have found is through praise and thanksgiving.
Take a few moments and read Psalm 136. The Psalmist begins by praising God for His goodness and for being the one and only true God. The Psalmist says to be thankful to Him for His great wonders and His incomprehensible understanding. Praise the one who created the earth, moon, sun and stars. Pause and take a moment to reflect on all the Lord has created. Why did He make the heavens, the earth, the galaxies and humanity? Why would He do this? The Psalmist concludes each of these statements with the phrase, “His love endures forever.” Do you believe that today? Do you believe the Lord is eternal and His great love will last forever?
The Psalmist brings attention to the Israelites deliverance from Egypt. If you are not familiar with this account, it can be found in Exodus, the second book of the Bible. The Psalm continues to praise God for His deliverance, miracles, provisions, and freedom. It concludes with a final statement of thanksgiving.
What does your song of praise look like? Think back on your life. Dwell on all the Lord has created, all of nature that is available to you, for your enjoyment. What has the Lord done in your life? Where has He brought you? What has He delivered you from? In what special ways has He revealed Himself to you? What blessings do you have to be thankful for? What do you need to remind yourself of today? Take 30 minutes or so and write those things down.
Share that testimony with your family, dear friend, loved one or whoever you may choose. Challenge them with the same task. Have the kids take some time today to focus on all they have to be thankful for. Take this opportunity to teach them about the Lord’s unfailing and eternal love. Perhaps, you could write this testimony as a family. The important thing is to remember! The enemy comes to kill, destroy and steal. He wants nothing more than to steal your joy. Remember the Lord, and give thanks, because His love endures forever!
