I Trust In You

I Trust In You
written by Chris Baker

In our text today, Psalm 55, King David pours his heart out. Pause for a moment and read Psalm 55. Did you hear the raw emotion in his words! Can’t you feel his agony, fear, distress and uncertainty? King David was a real person with real problems.

We also find ourselves in situations that cause fear, anxiety, distress and uncertainty. Does it make you a weak Believer to have these feelings? Well, that depends on what you do with them! What did David do?

David continuously comes to a place of surrender. He leaves his life in the Lords hands. He looks to the Lord for help. Verse 16 says, “I call to God, and the Lord saves me” (NIV). Are you crying out to the Lord today or are you trying to handle the situation in your own strength?

Jesus found Himself in a similar situation. He was surrounded by His enemies. People threw false accusations at Him and abused Him. What did He do? He cried out to the Lord! He cried out to the Lord in the Garden of Gethsemane, knowing what was about to take place, asking if the Lord had another way. Ultimately, Jesus came to a place of submission and surrender to the will of the Father. He was obedient, even to death!

Just as I said the other day, the Lord never promises to remove us from difficult situations. Rather, He promises to go through them with us. David constantly comes back to a place of trust and surrender. In spite of how he may feel in the moment, he continues to cry out to God for help and ultimately places his trust in Him. In spite of how Jesus felt, He chose to submit to the Lords will in the Garden.

We will face hard times in this life, that is a guarantee, but we don’t have to do it alone! David says in verse 22-23, “cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you…But as for me, I trust in you” (NIV).

No matter what you’re facing today, stop, pray, cast your burdens on the Lord and allow Him to comfort you. Trust Him today because He is trustworthy! Place your life, will, plans, desires, in His hands today. Allow the Lord to carry you through this time because of His great love for  you!

Lord, we celebrate the fact that you rose from the grave. Thank you for submitting to the will of the Father and willingly giving your innocent life for us. Thank you for dying for our sins that hung you on that tree. May we see your great love for us today and trust you! May we cast our cares upon you. We trust you Lord and we cry out to you today. Save us O Lord we pray, save us! Hallelujah, Amen.
